Hi,
I got a notice from TU that my score is almost 730 but only better than 45% of consumers.
Is this accurate? If so, I congraduate 55% above me.
What is the % above 750? 780? Cant be that many above 800.
You are doing great. Just keep at it and you'll be over 800.

*Edited to present more current F8 data*. Original data posted was from 2016
For Fico 8 classic (2021 data): Approximately 23% have a score of 800 and above and 46% score 750 and above.
Another point of interest, 2% score 850.
Percentages vary a lot by year. The average Fico 8 score gaining 20 points since 2015.
Note: The average (mean) score of 716 is MUCH lower than the median (50th percentile) score of about 745.
See tables pasted below - link provided as well.

For Fico 8 classic: Approximately 20% have a score of 800 and above, 28% score 780 and above and 40% score 745 and above. Percentages vary a little by CRA and by year.

It would be nice to be a 2%er one day
Im trying to get all 3 to 800, 2 so far. I think I'll be comfortable with that. I doubt I can stay in the garden long enough (or live long enough) to make 850. Maybe fico9, they run higher.
Say Mr wizard, do all fico9s just run higher than fico8s, or is it my profile?
It's your profile. That being said, Fico 9 appears to be slightly more generous for a majority of profiles.
If you want Fico 8s higher than 9s, get a small unpaid collection . Fico 8 ignores collections paid or unpaid under $100. Fico 9 ignores all paid collections regardless of amount but looks at all unpaid collections.
@Snook_on_the_Line to be a 1%er do what the other 99% won't do!
Otherwise, a Fico 8 (or Fico 9) industry option score of 900 definitely puts you in the 1%er club.

I recently gained access to a free EX FICO9 score to compare with my FICO8. My 8 score is 850 while my 9 score is 846. It will be interesting to see how the scores change after my new revolving account starts reporting.
I just got my eq fico9 from penfed, 850! I'd be celebrating, except they turned me down for a credit card. You can't please some people.
