I like the Unpurging theory by @CreditAggie .

I just looked around and I am now seeing a lot less "anonymous" than before.
@Thomas_Thumb wrote:The ranks of Super and Senior Contributor are down 50% also. Used to be more than 110 seniors, now just 60.
As of right now, there are 39 Supers and 64 Seniors. I think there were only a dozen or so Supers before. It certainly does appear that some accounts have been unpurged.

Interesting observation and thread, @805orbust.
Two days after @CreditAggie's posting and 153,130 members at 10:15 p.m. CT on Sunday, 04/30/2023. It does appear to have stabilized.
It's quite possible that there was a purge of spam accounts, but as posted upthread, I know the Mods actively deleted obvious spam accounts. I frequently reported them and they were removed. (It was obvious. New account as-of that date normally. Only one post. And the post often had a link to a third party website.)
I will say that it does NOT appear that inactive accounts are being purged. I've often researched topics over the years and found VERY old threads with users who were only active 2007 - 2010 that were still valid accounts. And I did a search this evening, finding many older accounts that had no recent logins but still existed. In a couple of threads,
... the list goes on. All these profiles and old threads are still present.

Thanks for that info. I had seen that name on Reddit before and never knew about the site. Lots of good info there although I don't know who those people are.
Like @Thomas_Thumb had mentioned upthread "prolific posters and response generators such as BBS, Birdman7, Cassiecard and CGID just to name a few."
I learned a lot from them, still learning, and they have a lot to offer and do so wholeheartedly. Go check out CreditRebels...that's them....you'll like the vibe over there.
+1. There's a lot more to that story and the disappearing profiles, and I'm wondered how closely the recent changes in moderation are tied to what happend in that time frame. We lost some great members then and I seriously doubt some of them will ever return.

Well I think you just taught me something, @Thomas_Thumb. I was surprised that you knew the total numbers by community ranks and was thinking about asking you how you did that. Then, just for grins, I used the search toolbar and put "Senior Contributor" in quotes and pulled up all the members in that rank. Is that how you did it or was there another way?
We may have over 150K community members but it does seem that it's only a handful of us that are posting and truly active.
I did a search on senior contributor but without the quotes. A list of threads came up. Then I clicked on users and a list of current users was displayed.
Btw - the senior contributor list has climbed to 67. Still well below the count in March.

Interesting ... thanks! I tried your method and got to the same screen I did when I just typed "Senior Contributor" in the search bar. One less click. Good-to-know. I just wondered if there was any other way to see all of that!
Unfortunately the filters can be a little lacking. They may not capture/list all the current users at a the designated rank level. In other words there have been some active senior/super/mega contributors not on their rank list but their rank was showing on their posts.
@Aim_High I hear you loud and clear... Out of curiosity I went and looked up the "Credit Rebuild Project Log" thread by -p (ran from 2008-2016and provided me with huge inspirationa decade ago) and saw it was still intact so there's absolutely more to it. The Spam thing makes alot of sense, as do bots, and I remember there being buzz about that perhaps 18-24 months ago. I mean, even Twitter was complaining about a high percentage af spam and bot accounts messing things up. I'm sure Fico would benefit from a purge.
On another note, I did check out Credit Rebels, and they did a great job over there... lots of familiar faces too. I'll be spending time there as well 🙂 The learning never stops.
