If a person files for bankruptcy to wipe out an old default civil judgment and doesn't do anything with current creditors, does that go on the credit reports and affect credit? Thanks

Yes, a BK will show on your credit reports regardless of which debts are to be discharged / included as part of the BK.

Adding to what @pizzadude said, I'm not at all sure a bankruptcy will wipe out an old judgement. Do you have an attorney telling you otherwise?
You do not get to pick and choose which creditors you list in a bankruptcy. Each and every creditor MUST be listed. This includes but is not limited to medical bills, credit cards, loans (secured and unsecured), student loans, back taxes, back support, judgments, friends and family who you owe money to. . . everything gets listed.
