I saw this post on Reddit showing that new Chase Freedom (Unlimited, Flex) cards no longer have embossed numbers/letters.
Just wish the numbers/letters were on the back of the card. Chase is strange sometimes.
I just took a look, my CFU card has embossed numbers, my other three Chase cards don't and all have the numbers on the back. My Prime card was recently replaced, I don't recall if the old one was embossed or not. I think the CSR has never been embossed because it is a metal card. The United Explorer and CFU both expire next year so I assume they were both sent in roughly the same timeframe. I would think it would be cheapest for them to have the same format for all plastic cards, but for some reason they don't.
I checked my other cards and about 2/3 are not embossed. Amex is also a mixed bag of embossed and not.
I can confirm. My CFF is not embossed.
That'll be nice to receive when mine expire! My current Flex and Unlimited are both embossed, but I've had them for years.
Doom - embossing is gone.
My replacement Discover More card is flat as a thin pancake as are my replacement Fidelity Visa and Best Buy cards. Since Best Buy is store only with the same # and no exp date, I threw out the new one and kept the old.
I suspect my AMEX green and Citi AT&T Universal will surcome when they are up for renewal.
Just checked and my OG freedom which I received only 4-6 months ago due to an unauthorized purchase / needed a new card #, is embossed. My Chase debit card is as well, for what that's worth.
My Chase cards are as follows:
My 4 Chase cards:
debit, exp 2024, front embossed
Freedom Flex, exp 2028, front embossed
Freedom Unlimited, exp 2025, front embossed
United Explorer, exp 2027, rear not embossed
Gone are the days of knuckle busters!
