I finally was able to get approved for a checking, membership share and Accelerated Savings account for Blue FCU as of yesterday and accounts setup a little while ago in online banking! I can confirm that the DP is no more than 2 Chexs in the last year for Chexsystems including the one they tack on to pull the report. So far they seem very polite, personable/friendly and professional! Nobody's really happy about the current mobile app however due to reviews but I think it's ok - just seems a little dated. I have 5 older inquiries going back to near the end of May, 2022. This was a challenging credit union to get involved with as I was denied the first two times due to inquiries. I def. want to visit more of Wyoming on a future trip and would stop in a branch to see them. Their credit cards aren't that competitive though compared to other lenders.
Congratulations!!
Congratulations!
Are they paying a big sub?
Unfortunately for everyone complaining about the apps and web interface, these ARE the updated versions. A year or two ago both UIs got an upgrade from something even more dated.
You're absolutely right that the staff are great, and the newer branches are pretty cool. Otherwise as you noted, their credit products are lacklustre, lending APRs are...fine, and since last summer there's no fully free checking account (minimum $100 balance or 1 monthly transaction for the basic checking). The previous accelerated savings account people liked (5% APY on $1000) got switched to the current tiered savings model, which I've started to find at other CUs as well. Last summer they also replaced the Rewards for Life program with Nova Perks which is a more explicit "pay to play" type of program...as you may have noticed, I'm not a fan of the changes they've made.
Congrats on the approval!
That’s Terrific!! It appears they aren't really geo-fenced either...make a $10 donation and $5 goes to their own foundation, enabling you to join. That's about the easiest I've seen...

Congrats. What is special about this CU?
Well I got this in case interest rates for liquid money in other banks go down again like back in 2019-2020 when there was hardly any 5% interest bearing accounts. The Accelerated Savings account interest rate never changed. So it might be good to have when the market rate goes down again plus it's challenging to get with the Chex sensitivity.
