Situatioin: I live in texas. We do not escrow our property taxes, we pay them annually. Our property taxes were not past due (and we have never been past due), they were due Jan 31, 2024. In December of 2023 our Mortgage lender randomly decided to pay our property taxes. This caused an escrow to be established. It raised our normal monthly payment of just our interest and prinicple by over $1600 which now includes escrow. Is this legal? I've been calling them consistently since January to get this straightened out and its been a nightmare. Any help, advice would be greatly apprecaited.
Thanks!
Who is the servicer?
File a complaint with the CFPB.
your property taxes are 20k/year? **bleep** I forgot I live in a state where they are pretty low. Here that would be a 3 million dollar home.
